A Community That Cares: How PORCH Brunswick Forest Fights Hunger One Porch at a Time
31 Tons of Food Donated Through November

You see the signs in the neighborhood and you may ask what is Porch? Well we are pleased to publish a guest blog post from our local Porch program to raise awareness of their activities in our neighborhoods in Brunswick Forest. We hope you consider making a food or monetary donation to help those in need.
Next food drive date is December 12.
Every month across Brunswick Forest, quiet acts of generosity ripple through the neighborhood. Bags of canned goods and pantry staples appear on porches, not as decoration, but as a promise. A promise that no one in our county should have to face hunger alone.
That’s the heart of PORCH Brunswick Forest, a volunteer-driven effort that turns small, consistent donations into real relief for families in need.
Once a month, residents bring bags of non-perishable food to their neighborhood coordinator’s porch. From there, volunteers collect, sort, and deliver the donations to local food pantries that help feed our neighbors across Brunswick County. The process is simple, but the impact is profound.
Food insecurity continues to affect families throughout the county, especially as living costs rise. Each month, PORCH Brunswick Forest helps fill that gap, one can, one bag, one act of kindness at a time. It’s proof that generosity, when multiplied by many hearts, becomes a force for lasting change.
What makes PORCH special isn’t just the food it provides, it’s the people behind it. Volunteers give their time, neighbors share what they can, and every donation stays local. The porch becomes more than a drop-off point; it becomes a symbol of compassion and shared purpose.
As one volunteer put it, “We may not be able to solve hunger everywhere, but we can make sure our corner of the world doesn’t go unnoticed.”
